The Cottage is in a magnificent pristine area surrounded by forest land near the middle of Leelanau County, just outside of the Village of Lake Leelanau. In the village of Lake Leelanau, you’ll find a quaint town and park, full-service market, terrific restaurants, antique shops, and much more. The hills are filled with grape vineyards, as well as cherry and apple orchards.
Just five minutes from Freshwater cottage is the charming village of Leland with the historic Fishtown Marina. Only five minutes to the lovely village of Suttons Bay. A beautiful park sits at the tip of Leelanau Peninsula which is the Leelanau State Park and is the home of the historic Grand Traverse Lighthouse. Other near by parks include: Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore, Peterson Park, and Leelanau Conservancy Kehl Lake Preserve, Good Harbor Bay Beach and the fabulous dune climb at the National Lakeshore plus Leland Harbor and Suttons Bay Harbor.
This cottage has a charming Up North Cottage theme with unique collectibles and artwork. You’ll appreciate the comfortable couches and the great wooden rocking chair for a relaxing afternoon reading your favorite book. Your kitchen is fully-equipped and contains some terrific cookbooks, if you’re in the mood to be creative. Your dining rooms seats six to eight plus lots of additional seating for outside picnics.
There is a fireplace,laundry area, desk for your laptop, boathouse and main house has central air. The guest cottage has ceiling fan as do all the bedrooms. There is a desk, chair and cable modem in the main house to keep you in touch if you bring your computer.
After dining, enjoy a bonfire! You’ll quickly notice that you can see all the magnificent star constellations. Be sure to sign our special guest book and tell future guests of all the fun things you discovered in Leelanau County - The Land of Delight!
Directions:
From Traverse City go to the corner of M-22 & M-72. Turn left onto M-72 West to Bugai Rd. Turn right onto Bugai Rd going north. (Landmark: Big power windmill will be on northeast corner of M-72 & Bugai). Continue north for 15 miles. Take notice that Bugai will change into S. Lake Leelanau Dr. (Landmark: You will travel past Lakeview Hill Rd., past Bingham Rd., past Otto Rd., past O'Brian Rd.) Cottage is just north of O'Brian on left side.
